Demo wins have no cash value. The demo build may show menus that UK casinos remove — the Chronos demo page explains the differences.
Chronos – Sands of Eternity puts the Greek titan of time centre stage. He stands in a desert of golden sand with a golden staff in hand and a giant hourglass behind him, surrounded by ruined columns and clockwork cogs. Four other heroic characters — two men and two women — share the reels with him, while the lower-paying symbols are the familiar 10, J, Q, K and A, drawn as golden cogs and clockwork royals.
The layout is classic Pragmatic Play: five reels, four rows and 20 fixed paylines, with wins paying left to right. What makes the Chronos slot different is the way symbols grow. High symbols and wilds can land as a single tile or as a 2×2 block, and every block brings a multiplier of its own.
The default RTP is 96.50%, volatility is medium and the hit frequency is 23.36%, so roughly one spin in four returns a win. Free spins arrive about once in 225 spins on average. Casinos may also run lower RTP versions, so it is worth opening the info screen first — our RTP, max win and volatility page shows what to look for.
The base game of Chronos – Sands of Eternity is built around one idea: the bigger the symbol, the more it can multiply. Here are the three parts that matter most.
2×2 blocks · ×1 to ×12
High symbols and wilds land as 1×1 or 2×2. A 2×2 symbol carries a multiplier from ×1 to ×12, and every win that runs through it is multiplied. When two or more big symbols sit in the same win, their multipliers are added together — a ×4 and a ×6 make ×10.
Wheel of time · hourglass
The wild is a steampunk wheel of time that stands in for every regular symbol. Five wilds on a line pay 25× the bet, the same as five Chronos symbols. The hourglass is the scatter: three, four or five of them start the free spins.
1.5× or 2.5× the bet
Special Bets raise the cost of each spin in return for more scatters: 1.5× the bet doubles your chance of free spins, 2.5× the bet makes it five times higher. Not every UK casino shows this menu, so check the game before you count on it.
Land three, four or five hourglass scatters and you get 6, 8 or 10 free spins. Every scatter that appears during the round fills a meter, and every three scatters push you up a level with six extra spins.
Level 1
Every spin shows at least one 2×2 high symbol or wild with a random multiplier from ×1 to ×12.
Level 2
3×3 symbols join on reels 2, 3 and 4 with multipliers from ×1 to ×24, alongside the 1×1 and 2×2 tiles.
Level 3
1×1 and 2×2 symbols carry ×1 to ×24, and every 3×3 symbol starts at ×12 and runs up to ×24.
Level 4
The reels switch to blanks, Money and Collect symbols. Money symbols hold your winnings from levels 1 to 3, and each Collect gathers every value on screen.
Level 4 is the end of the road — the round cannot be extended once you reach it. Every number and a worked example sit on the Chronos free spins page.
Outside Great Britain, Chronos comes with a Buy Features menu offering two paid routes into the free spins. That menu is not available in Great Britain: UK casinos run the game without it, so the only way to the bonus is to land three or more hourglass scatters on a normal spin. If you see a buy button in the demo, remember that the real-money version at a UKGC casino will not have it.
Special Bets are a separate menu. Whether your casino shows it is up to the casino, so check the game panel. If it is there, keep in mind that a 2.5× Special Bet makes every spin two and a half times as expensive, and the £5 cap still applies to what you pay per spin.
Chronos – Sands of Eternity is a new title, not a sequel. Many UK players will still measure it against Gates of Olympus, Pragmatic Play’s best-known titan slot, so here is how the two differ.
| Chronos | Gates of Olympus | |
|---|---|---|
| Grid | 5×4, 20 paylines | 6×5, pays anywhere with tumbles |
| Multipliers | Attached to big symbols, ×1–×24, added together | Multiplier orbs, 2×–500× |
| Volatility | Medium | High |
| Max win | 7,500× | 5,000× |
| RTP | 96.50% | 96.50% |
The short version: Gates of Olympus is the wilder ride with bigger single multipliers, while Chronos spreads its action more evenly, pays on lines, builds its free spins through four levels that end in Money & Collect and offers a higher top prize.
Pragmatic Play releases Chronos on 9 November 2026. From that date UKGC-licensed casinos that carry Pragmatic Play games can add it to their lobby. The official demo lets you try the game for free, and we will re-check every figure on this site once the game is live at UK casinos.
Yes. The demo on this page is Pragmatic Play’s own build and runs on virtual credit in pounds. You only need to confirm that you are 18 or over. There is no download and no sign-up, but demo wins cannot be cashed out, and the demo may show menus that UK casinos switch off.
The default RTP is 96.50%. Casinos are allowed to run a 95.50% or 94.50% version instead, and the paytable alone will not tell you which one you are playing. Open the info screen inside the game at your casino and look for the stated return to player before you start spinning.
Land three, four or five hourglass scatters to win 6, 8 or 10 free spins. Scatters that land during the round fill a meter, and every three of them move you up a level and add six more spins. There are four levels, and the last one is the Money & Collect round.
No. Feature buys are not available in Great Britain, so UK casinos run Chronos without the Buy Features menu. The free spins only start when three or more hourglass scatters land. Special Bets are a separate option — whether you see them depends on your casino, so check the game panel.
The game itself allows stakes from 0.20 to 240 per spin, but UK rules cap online slots at £5 a spin, or £2 for players aged 18–24. UK versions also have no autoplay and no turbo spin. Any Special Bet cost counts towards what you pay per spin.
The max win is 7,500× the bet. At the £5 UK cap that works out at up to £37,500 from a single spin; at £2 it is up to £15,000. The quoted chance is about 1 in 1,583,281, so treat it as a ceiling rather than something to expect.
Start with the free demo to see how the 2×2 and 3×3 symbols stack their multipliers, then play Chronos for real money only at a UKGC-licensed casino, with a deposit limit you are comfortable with.
